Looking for a "reason based" community?  Sick of the sad state of science education and the gullibility of the average person? Since 2008 our members have been making friends, learning, challenging and being challenged with people who like to examine commonly held ideas and beliefs with a scientific eye. Take a break from those who forward dubious alarmist emails or buy into the latest panacea, religious idea, scam or utopian vision based on "truthiness" alone. Hang out for a laugh, write an action letter, meet a psychic, and get to know group of people who care if what they believe is actually true! The Cleveland Skeptics hold about 3-5 activities per month including events like:

• Regular book club, gaming nights and monthly Drinking Skeptically (non-drinkers welcome!)
• Frequent museum trips to see latest exhibits and lectures (Natural history, science, art or others)
• Annual Darwin Day
• Movies- sometimes related to skepticism sometimes just for fun
• Recent historical tour of Kirtland's Mormon Temple
• Occasional trips to New Age fairs with "New Age Bingo"
• Casual gatherings, sometimes with a theme of discussion
• Annual review of new year's "psychic" predictions of our members
• Miscellaneous good times such as bowling, hikes, science fairs, playhouse square, etc.
• Active mailing list, facebook group.

Note: This is not an atheist/agnostic/freethinker/secularist group per se; non-theism is not required nor sufficient to appreciate this group; desire to be a more rational person is. That said, rationalism has lead most of away from religion and gods, religion in society is a major concern of ours, and we do not handle it with kid gloves. Expect ideas you present to be challenged and critiqued. Religious ones do not get a free pass.
