- Hi - i am appalled at the degree of intrusion of religion into all aasapects of daily life. you can't even call anyone these days without hearing "have a blessed day" at the end of the message! hope to talk with others with similar views.
- What is the best day and time for you to meet?

weekends and some evenings
- Are you alarmed by the state of scientific knowledge among the general population in America?

yes - public education is pretty bad and people overall are not interested in reading "difficult" material. it's a frightening state of affairs.
- Are there issues or topics you'd especially like to discuss at a meeting?

I am concerned abuot the sharp dichotomy implied here between science as (totally?) rational vs other (totally) irrational views. Yes, there is much that is clear cut in science, but let's remember that scientific results have to be interpreted, and it is a human discourse, so there is still room for irrationality here too. I am just saying that we should not become dogmatic in insisting that of all scientific discourse is totally rational. Perhaps this seems like an esoteric notion. Challenge me!

I have just come to the ideas of Paul Kurtz through the Secular Humanists and will be interested to know what others think.
