It seems that skeptics needs to unite against this nonsense.

DENVER ? Would you know what to do if an alien spaceship made a crash landing on the 16th Street Mall?

That's the type of scenario 54-year-old Jeff Peckman says residents need to be prepared for.

Thursday afternoon, he met with city officials for the first time, to go over a proposed ordinance that would create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver.

The commission would be tasked with developing a plan for an encounter with space aliens.

It would also educate the public and train emergency workers on how to respond to a run-in with an extraterrestrial being.

"It's not rumors, it's not speculation. These extraterrestrials do exist," Peckman said before a city attorney.

The cost of funding the commission would be $75,000 annually.

It is a cost that City Councilman Charlie Brown says local government can do without.

Its not just the cost, but also the idea that a government commission on this headed by nut-jobs would give a sense of legitimacy to the issue.

I think the solution is simple.
We just need to build those border fences a WHOLE lot higher.

Well if an alien does crash land it will probably be like actually one of us, Iron Man. I liked the movie myself.

Kylie Sturgess of the PodBlack blog has written a great piece on the topic, uncovering additional details behind the effort, including a website for the 'extra campaign':

From http://cbs4denver.com...

Seven high school students from Littleton watched the hearing, wearing tin foil hats they had seen in "Signs," the M. Night Shyamalan movie about aliens.

I dearly hope they were doing so in jest.

laughing Maybe, I should be more concerned but mostly I find the advocate to be a raving hysterical lunatic.
