I think a good portion of the people here have an above average interest in science.
As you might know, Vancouver is the home of Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics, called TRIUMF. In principle it can always be visited on guided tours, but the anniversary next week is one of the very rare opportunities of an open house. If you get a guided tour, usually the person who shows you around will focus on his area of expertise, whereas at this occasion there will be tons of TRIUMF people around to explain stuff. Physical demonstrations are also planned. One word of advice though: if the food is provided by our cafeteria, it is... not great. I don't think even they will manage to render hot dogs completely inedible but I'm ready to be proven wrong. |

The tree ceremony is at 2:30, but what about the rest of it? When can we go? Are there specific times the tour starts or can we just start whenever we like?

I notice nobody has put up a place to meet yet.
That shouldn't be a problem, since there is only one entrance. There are a couple of benches opposite the entrance, though. As I said, I'll be busy inside, but those should be a good place to meet. |

I would like to attend, but I have not read what the start times are, meeting point, etc.

Wow, all of a sudden I'm moving to California for Sept. 1! Dunno if I'll be able to make it out now.
